Salary on Commencement

Information for Applicants

Applicants are advised that the Department of the Senate Enterprise Agreement 2010 – 2012 outlines the arrangements regarding salary on commencement.

New employees and promotees

New employees and promotees will be paid at the minimum point of the applicable salary range that is in effect at the date of commencement or promotion; unless, having regard to the experience, qualifications and skills of the employee, the Clerk of the Senate (or delegate) authorises payment above the minimum salary point in the applicable salary range.

Transfers at level

Ongoing Australian Parliamentary Service or Australian Public Service employees who move to the Department of the Senate (on an ongoing or a non-ongoing basis), and are employed at the equivalent classification prior to the move, but are on a salary point which does not translate to this department’s salary structure, may be paid at the next highest salary point within the Department of the Senate’s classification and salary range.  Where employees are on a salary higher than the maximum salary point within the Department of the Senate’s equivalent classification, they may be approved a commencement salary higher than the maximum salary point.

Prior to commencing with the Department of the Senate, the successful applicant will be contacted by a representative from the Department of the Senate Human Resource Management section to discuss salary arrangements.
