Annual Report 2004–05

External scrutiny

No judicial decisions or decisions of administrative tribunals during 2004–05 had, or may have, a significant impact on the operation of the department.

As discussed in the report on performance for Outcome 1, the Standing Committee on Appropriations and Staffing and the Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee continued to monitor the performance of the department.

The department was involved in one cross-portfolio audit conducted by the Australian National Audit Office during the reporting period. This related to the administration of special appropriations. A Commonwealth-wide recommendation to improve the reporting of special appropriations was accepted by the department.
