Seafood and seafood products

On 21 March 2017 the Senate adopted the recommendations contained in the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References report Import of seafood and seafood products and referred the following matter for inquiry and report by 22 June 2017. On 22 June 2017 the Senate agreed to extend the reporting date until ​7 December 2017.

The final report was tabled on 31 October 2017.

  • The biosecurity risks associated with the importation of seafood and seafood products (including uncooked prawns and uncooked prawn meat) into Australia.

Submissions should be received by 13 April 2017. The terms of reference are available on the inquiry webpage.
