On 12 October 2016, the Senate agreed to the establishment of a new select committee, to be known as the Select Committee into the Resilience of Electricity Infrastructure in a Warming World.

The closing date for submissions is 27 January 2017.

On 24 January 2017 the committee extended the closing date for submissions to 3 February 2017. 

On 22 March 2017, the Senate granted an extension to the committee to report by 7 April 2017.

The Select committee concluded its inquiry when it tabled its report on 7 April 2017.
