The Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment was referred to the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties by Australian Labor Party Senator Joe Ludwig on 26 November 2003. The Senator for Queensland was a member of JSCOT between 1999 and 2002.

In order to facilitate electronic publishing of submissions, the committee would prefer them to be emailed or sent on disk to the secretariat, if possible.
