Joint Migration Committee tables second report into immigration detention
The Joint Standing Committee on Migration has recommended the Australian government utilise a reformed bridging visa framework in lieu of community detention until a person’s immigration status is resolved in its report tabled on 25 May. Chair of the Migration Committee, Mr Michael Danby, said that the Committee recognised early on in its inquiry that a new approach to immigration detention was needed.
Report on improving disability access to buildings released
The House Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee has recommended that the draft Premises Standards to make buildings more accessible be finalised and introduced without delay in a report tabled in Parliament on Monday 15 June.

Cambodia and Australia sign parliamentary link
A parliamentary partnership agreement between the Australian House of Representatives and the Parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia was signed in Canberra on 2 February. The Clerk of the House of Representatives Ian Harris and the Secretary-General of the Cambodian Senate Sarith Oum signed the memorandum of understanding.
